Blizzard announced yesterday that tickets for its fourth BlizzCon convention will go on sale May 16. BlizzCon is becoming the fastest growing gaming convention in the world and this year's event -- scheduled for August 21 and 22 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California -- is promising to be the biggest yet.
More after the jump.
As I reported earlier this year, last year's BlizzCon was larger than any other and Blizzard aims to accommodate even more fans this year by adding yet another convention hall to the event, bringing the total to four. But with an additional convention hall brings additional expenses and ticket prices have been raised to $125 a pop.
Like last year, fans can also watch the event on Direct TV for $39.95, and like last year, you'll also receive another WoW in-game item which has yet to be revealed.
"The event will again deliver a minimum of eight hours of live HD coverage from the show floor on each day of the convention, including exclusive interviews, demos, and more," said Blizzard in a written statement. "In addition, gamers around the world who are unable to attend BlizzCon will for the first time be able to purchase the Pay Per View event as an Internet stream, also priced at $39.95."
Worried that last year's ticket fiasco is going to happen again? Well, sleep well at night knowing that Blizzard has taken steps to assure that no one will have to relive that nightmare again.
To streamline the ticket-purchase process this year, the company has made upgrades to the Blizzard Store, including a first-come, first-served queue system and a fixed time limit for completing purchases. Also, those interested in attending BlizzCon can simplify the purchase process by registering a Battle.net account at www.battle.net before ticket sales begin.
